The INTERNATIONAL AWARD for FAÇADE ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE

2017 Winners

The purpose of the FAÇADE series of competitions organised by the SFE is to recognise and reward excellence in façade design and engineering and thereby to draw attention to the importance of façades in modern architecture. Each of our winners this year have succeeded admirably in achieving that with facades that are quite diverse but equally remarkable.

The critical aspect each year is helping to persuade those with really great ideas to come forward.  The competition judges demonstrate annually during scoring that it is an innovative approach and outcome to a Façade engineering problem that wins.  This is well evidenced in that projects big and small have won, as have multi-national entities through to PhD students from Tu Delft.  The competition is designed to favour façade engineering innovation and a willingness to describe and share it.  Our goal is always clear… to help those who have had excellent ideas to believe in the merit of making an entry, believe through sharing they can change the built environment for the better, and be recognised for doing so.

The competition is international with entries from all over the glove but in 2017 London swept the table with three awards, with one additional commendation going to Copenhagen.
